Travis Kelce's 'dream come true' moment as he films Happy Gilmore 2 alongside Adam Sandler

Travis Kelce says it was a "dream come true" working alongside Adam Sandler in 'Happy Gilmore 2'.

The 35-year-old American football star - who is dating pop megastar Taylor Swift - has an undisclosed role in the forthcoming film, which will see Sandler reprise his role as the titular character.

NFL legend Travis, who plays tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, admitted he has "a few" scenes in the movie, and insisted the experience was "off the chain".

Speaking on 'The Pat McAfee Show', he said: "That was a dream come true.

"I thought 'SNL' was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career.

"Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain."

Kelce found Sandler to be "every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen" during the filming process.

He added: "They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with.

"I felt like I was working with like the [Chiefs' coach] Andy Reid of the acting world.

"[Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen.

"That was a dream come true. That was awesome."

Ben Stiller, Julie Bowen, and Christopher McDonald are also due to appear in the motion picture.

Plot details for the sequel - which will also feature Jacqueline Sophia London, Benny Safdie and Nick Swardson - are yet to be revealed, but the original film told the story of unsuccessful ice hockey player Gilmore, who discovers he has a talent for golf.

Sandler previously confirmed Kelce's cameo in the movie, and admitted the NFL player is "funny and cool as hell".

Speaking on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', he said: "We have a nice something for Travis. He’s gonna come by.

"He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He’s a stud and he’s so funny."
