Jenna Ortega hates the idea of a female James Bond

Jenna Ortega doesn't want a female to play James Bond.

The 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' actress argues that more franchises should be created with female leads in mind instead of film studios following the trend of reimagining classic movies with women in the starring roles.

In an interview with MTV, Jenna, 21, said: "I love that there's a lot more female leads nowadays, I think that's so special, but we should have our own.

"I don't like it when it's like a spin-off – I don't want to see like 'Jamie Bond'. You know? I want to see another badass."

The idea of a female 007 has been discussed as Bond chiefs look for a new star to take on the role of the legendary spy but ex-Bond Daniel Craig previously made similar comments to Ortega.

He told the Radio Times: "There should simply be better parts for women and actors of colour. Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?"

007 producer Barbara Broccoli also stated how the next Bond will be a man and that she would rather create "characters for women" instead of "having women play men's roles".

She told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021: "I think (the next James Bond) will be a man because I don't think a woman should play James Bond.

"I believe in making characters for women and not just having women play men's roles. I don't think there are enough great roles for women, and it's very important to me that we make movies for women about women."
